People Like Art will be opening a retail shop filled to the brim with PLA goods! I've been searching for the perfect spot for a retail shop for two years now, and it is finally happening! What does it mean? More offerings--scarves and totes, mens tops, and a wider variety of ladies apparel which will include luxurious jersey knit pieces--all sorts of handmade goodness! Plus the design studio will be in the shop so you will be able to see the design process from idea to finished product.
I used to live two blocks from a building that I dreamed one day could be the PLA home, and now it is! The shop will be at 17th and Fatherland in East Nashville tucked away in my absolute favorite neighborhood in Nashville which has an exciting community of local designers, musicians, and artisans. PLA was born on Fatherland St where I spent months testing fabrics, paints, and techniques so this move will be a bit of a homecoming. Our neighbors will include Olive and Sinclair Chocolatier who is moving in across the street, a stained glass studio next door, and an aerial photography business across the street.
I'm excited to bring PLA back to Nashville and to join the thriving Nashville fashion community with designers like Amanda Valentine (current Project Runway contestant), Jamie and the Jones, Otis James, and Imogene and Willie. My vision is that the shop will not only be a place for you to buy PLA, but also it will be a place for fashion and art gatherings, a place to grow, collaborate, and thrive.
We're shooting for a late April opening. More details to come.
